Saxby Sails Back to the Senate
It's official. Clearly the Republicans were motivated by the prospect of a Democratic takeover.

That or the democrats didn't know Martin well enough to care. You have to wonder what would have happened if they had a good candidate. Saxby Chambliss is certainly no prize for the people of Georgia.
People like divided government for good reason. But...if you look at what happens if Franken wins (who in the world would have thunk it)...it will be awfully easy to get to 60 even on some 'center-left' issues like partially-nationalized healthcare with Susan Collins or some of the other moderate Republicans who are up for reelection next time. There is a widening gap between the senators in the Republican party. It's hard to imagine that Olympia Snow and Jim Demint are actually on the same 'team' at this point.
